Our client manufactures electro coating lacquers, which are a high-quality water based primer applied to a metal surface, providing the painted surface with excellent corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties and high chemical resistance. The coatings can be colour treated to produce a decorative finishing, and used in applications such as jewellery, door fittings, furniture, lamps, and fashion accessories.
An opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated chemist to primarily undertake Quality Control (QC) testing at their site in the Midlands. This position would be ideally suited to a recent chemistry graduate looking for their first steps in their career and has excellent career prospects to develop into a management role with further responsibilities of developing new products.
Responsibilities;
- Quality Control testing and analysis of production samples and key raw materials.
- Quality Control and analysis of customer samples
- Support to manufacturing e.g., Non-conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Assistance with customer complaints investigations.
- Assistance with calibration of equipment.
- Colour matching
- Ensuring all tasks are undertaken safely and in a timely manner.
- Maintaining good housekeeping and tidying of the laboratory.
- Assistance with raw material evaluations, product improvement and development.
Candidate profile
- Preferably degree qualified in Chemistry or related subject, or having worked in a similar role in a similar industry.
- Well organised and methodical but with a creative and flexible approach.
- Must be computer literate with excellent verbal and written skills and be comfortable working on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
- A full driving licence is a mandatory requirement as some external site visits and testing will be required.
Working hours; Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm, though after a sufficient training period, the company can offer a more flexible working arrangement.
