Business Development Manager - Sustainable Paper Packaging

Our client is a world leader in the manufacturer of coated papers, self adhesives and security films with a global customer base.

Our Client has the requirement for a customer facing Commercial role to generate new business growth and further develop existing business in line with their short, medium, and long-term strategic plans. Primarily this will be the exploitation of newly installed operational coating capability to new customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver planned sales growth in markets requiring advanced coatings and production methods.
  • Translate customer needs into and manage early-stage new business opportunities to determine key success factors.
  • Develop new relationships at customers, OEM’s and key suppliers of materials.
  • Project manage new business development activity in specific designated areas.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process and strategy review.
  • Develop and keep updated an in depth understanding of the current product portfolio and technical and operational capability.
  • Liaise with the technical and product development functions on future customer and market requirements.
  • Develop detailed and sense checked roadmaps to gain access to new markets.
  • Keep abreast of competitor activity and technically driven market developments.
  • Coordinate and ensure new business /new product development activity is well managed.
  • Provide a depth of market knowledge and customer insight to facilitate tactics for entry into target areas of business growth.
  • Attend and co-ordinate relevant industry trade shows.

 

Person Specification:

  • Technically competent.
  • Direct BD experience
  • Balance longer term strategic goals with more immediate priorities.
  • Demonstrate awareness of a range of business areas, e.g. commercial, operational, through study, experience etc.
  • Experienced in interacting globally with all levels of customers; interacting with suppliers and OEMs.
  • Relevant experience from the specialist coating markets.
  • Familiar with business model generation techniques to introduce a formal review process.
  • Knowledge of coating, laminating, paper, synthetics, printing and conversion
